What dropping odds software does
- Reads the sharp market all day: Pinnacle takes the biggest bets from professionals and moves first.
- Detects the drop: the price of one side falls a set amount in a short time, before the game starts.
- Works out the fair price: the new Pinnacle price with its margin removed.
- Alerts you fast: a message with the match, the market, the selection, the price before and after.
- Leaves the decision to you: if your sportsbook still pays more than the fair price, the bet has value; if not, skip it.
An example in American odds
An NFL side opens at −110 / −110 at Pinnacle. At −110 the fair price is about −100 (50%), so betting −110 anywhere has a negative expected value of about −4.5%. Then the injury report lands and Pinnacle moves the side to −135 / +115. With the margin removed, the fair price is now about −125 (55.6%).
| Pinnacle | Fair price | Your sportsbook | Expected value | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Before the drop | −110 | −100 (50.0%) | −110 | −4.5% |
| After the drop | −135 | −125 (55.6%) | −110 (not moved yet) | +6.1% |
Nothing about the team changed at your sportsbook in those minutes; only the price is now wrong. That is the whole idea of dropping odds, and why speed matters: the gap closes as soon as the slow book catches up. You can check any price yourself with the free no-vig calculator, which accepts American odds.
How to choose dropping odds software
- The reference: alerts should come from the sharpest market (Pinnacle), not from an average of soft books.
- Speed: the alert has to reach you while the old price is still up. Ask for the measured time from the drop to your phone, not a claim.
- The fair price in the alert: a drop alone doesn't tell you whether your price still has value.
- Public results: every alert measured against the fair closing price (closing line value), the bad days included.
- Markets you actually bet: sides, totals, Asian handicaps, periods and player props.
- Filters: sport, league, market, drop size and odds range, so you only get what you would bet.
- A way to try it first: a free channel or a free trial, and a plan you can cancel any time.

Results, in public
Software that sells dropping odds should show how its drops did. BetTheDrop measures every alert it sends against Pinnacle's fair closing price and publishes the last 30 days as expected value, never as winnings: see alert results and how we measure.
Expected value against the fair closing price, not actual winnings: you can lose money even on +EV bets. How we measure it.
Who it's for, and who it isn't for
- For bettors who already bet pre-match, have accounts at more than one sportsbook and want to take prices above the fair price.
- For player props bettors: props move first on news and slow books are late to follow. See player props alerts.
- Not for in-play betting, sure bets (arbitrage) or anyone looking for tips or guaranteed profit.
- Not for anyone under 18 or betting where it isn't legal. Only use licensed operators.
