What's in the template
- Bets sheet: date, match, market, selection, bookmaker, your odds, stake, the fair odds when you bet, the fair closing odds and the result.
- Automatic columns: profit, EV % and CLV % for every bet.
- Summary sheet: settled bets, total staked, profit, ROI, average EV, average CLV and how many bets beat the close.
- Asian handicap results: half wins and half losses are worked out for you.
How to log a bet
- Write the match, the market, the selection, the bookmaker, your odds and your stake.
- Add the fair odds when you bet: the sharp price with the margin removed, from the no-vig calculator.
- Just before kick-off, add the fair closing odds the same way.
- After the match, pick the result: W, L, P (push), HW or HL (half win or half loss).
Reading your EV and CLV columns
EV % compares your odds with the fair odds when you bet: positive means you took a price with value. CLV % compares them with the fair closing odds: positive means you beat the market's final price. Over hundreds of bets, a positive average CLV is the clearest sign of a real edge, long before profit settles. See closing line value.
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
Logging the fair price and the closing price by hand takes time. BetTheDrop's bet tracker does it for you: every tracked bet keeps the fair price at the moment you checked it, and bets settle themselves with the official result when the match ends.
